Steve - I've pot-full of free-carry shares. I've also a pot-full of shares showing a loss. I invest in high-risk, high-reward shares for fun. Small mining, tech shares and bio-tech mainly. I've a shitload of blue-chips that don't make a lot of money but don't lose much either. And the dividends are nice.

I don't bet or gamble, apart from the occasional poker game, so high-risk shares are my way of gambling. But when a company I own tanks I just forget about it until interest perks up again. Then I wait until it's around 100% gain, sell half and then don't even look at it.

Of course, I've been burnt a few times. 5k invested worth $300. But, overall, I'm making more on my high-risk stuff than I do on my blue-chips.
