re: to goblin I just worked it out on a 55 cent aud and it would be trading at $4.95,big difference in prices......When we export tuna to japan its the same thing if we say average 3000 per kilo for say two ton of fish the rising yen hurts us bigtime
1000 @60 last year =$16.66
1000 @77 now = $12.98
3000yen av x 2000kg =$100,000 last year
3000yen av x 2000kg =$77922.00 now
Big difference on the same amount of fish and you still have the same expenses....no wonder every cent the aud dollar goes up cost companies like bhp and others millions of dollars
