Recently there have been several press articles referring to the
possible purchase by Impala Platinum Holdings Limited ("Implats") of
Absa Bank Limited's ("Absa") indirectly held 14.84% shareholding in
Zimplats.

Implats and Absa have now confirmed that discussions are taking place
in respect of a possible sale by Absa to Implarts, of this
shareholding.

Shareholders attention is drawn to the Chairman's statement made at
the Annual General Meeting of Zimplats on the 20 November 2002, which
can be found on the company's web site. The statement covers the
terms of an agreement concluded between Implats and Zimplats in the
event that Implats acquires further shares in Zimplats.

Shareholders are accordingly advised to exercise caution in dealing
in Zimplats shares.
