I suppose the glue needs to handle small movement as well..
I would be happy with 1.6mm gap. If Hadrian takes off, the brick companies would make bricks for it. And House Designers would make walls a multiple of a set of standard size.
I would be more happy to see a build with a very small gap to show it can be done (with glue on side of brick), to show Rendering is not required.
It looks like the Wienerberger clay blocks need thicker glue, as not much surface area on the bottom and top of the block.
