One thing in particular that you don't appear to realise diligent, is that within the teaching profession on any staff that I have ever been on, or witnessed....(and I've seen probably around a hundred of them).....slack teachers are not a very highly regarded bunch.
In these days where co-operative teaching is almost the norm, one teachers incompetence or laziness, will generally impact directly on other teachers' workloads.....and as you would imagine, it's not appreciated.
An extremely high percentage of teachers take their job very seriously, and that fact, more than anything else is most comforting as a parent.
Sure there are a few teachers who gradually become a bit slack, but that is, generally speaking, the result of the fact that the job is getting the better of them, and they tend not to stick around for too long after that. Teaching is not a nice place to be if you don't like the job, or don't have good discipline, and invariably the two go hand in hand.
Teachers who try to bludge are found out in no time by the hardest inspectors of all....the students, and their life pretty much becomes unbearable. The kids pick up on the lack of interest from the teacher and make their days very long indeed.
You seem to have this strange belief that teaching is a very easy job where bludgers go to hide. That is so far from the truth that it is simply ridiculous.
