Index ETfs beat most managed funds. Most managed funds seem to be large cap index huggers. Most is not all. It's not hard to figure out who the small number of good fund managers that beat the index over the long term are. I hold a mix of managed funds, hedge funds, LICs, LITs and ETFs across equities, bonds, property and infrastructure. In my case, my best investments have been funds that charge high fees. I try to avoid people that are dogmatic about particular investment classes, or anything else really. Each to their own.
