I think in its day the Wiluna operation was a good one. Even today the camp as a whole is still a significant contributor, probably somewhere in the range of 4-5Moz, not as large as say the Laverton belt (20Moz), but still significant nonethless.

The refractory, high-grade but spotty nature of the ore has presented real challenges in the past, with the bug circuit having been cooked at least once! Tbh I can't ever see the numerous open cuts ever being coalesced into a Wiluna "Superpit". Seems like management believed they were out of the woods, somewhat prematurely perhaps.

The area has real appeal as an exploration play, even though most of the recent discoveries have been small. As a money-making operation, I'm not convinced yet though.
