    Cattleman I agree. Milked a few myself. Beautiful animals, but I don't mind a good steak, or a nice bit of cheese.

    But I digress....

    Optimistic and well-intentioned, but naive People tend to forget that batteries need charging. On an extended wet period like we have in Melbourne this week, the solar panels and wind unscheduled generators are next to useless. The pumped storages of Snowy and Tassie 2.0 also run down quickly.

    The only way to charge them this week is with fossil or nuclear generators. So we build more fossil plants and pay them to sit idle through capacity payments.

    It will take many years for us to pay for the batteries that are Extolled with such reverence.

    Oh and you put the wind turbines inside giant birdcages. No problem, just add that to the tab will you?

    Long term, 100% no problem, it is the trajectory to get there that baffles most.
