Nothing wrong with wind and hydro as "base power" 24/7 and solar as base power during the day.

However there is a bit the greenies just dont get if you want to max renewables and minimise the carbon footprint.

In fact they SO dont get it that they are forcing increased use of coal powergen and for decades to come ... how is that for hypocrisy?!!

What they dont get is that peaking gas powergen is the perfect partner (the missing link if you like) to go with wind, solar and hydro ... unlike coal powergen, you can switch gas powergen on and off essentially at will as demand dictates ... and it has 30-40% less CO2 emmissions than coal powergen and virtually no particulates.

Instead the greens go out of their way to kill off gas as a viable cleaner powergen despite that it would allow increased use of wind, solar and hydro.

The greens and the trendies that unthinkingly vote for them cut off their noses to spite their faces because they oppose CSG in NSW where it is desperately needed as Gladstone LNG fires up from 2015 ... no CSG powergen and increased coal powergen is environmental bloody mindedness.

There is no other way to look at it than greens are responsible for the lack of GHG emmissions reductions along the entire Australian eastern seaboard.
