Some quarters will say the government collects a miserable amount.
But gas projects requires huge amounts of capital (billions) and expenditures (and risk).
Furthermore, the gas producers reserves 15% of output for WA customers (heat up homes, cooking, manufacturing). That is why gas is cheaper in WA (which is great for the locals and businesses)
