These debates on ethics always comes up on various bio threads.
A good test for ethics vs greed is this scenario. Your company has a monopoly product that is doing very nicely meeting an unmet need. Then along comes some ragamuffin outfit that has a drug that is potentially cheaper, more efficious, safer, and long acting oral dosing.
Do you want to see the competing drug:
(a) pass Phase 3 and get FDA approval; or
(b) crash and burn in clinical trials?
I'm a (b) kinda guy.
