"What I got was ""The Blue Screen of Death"" Lost everything !!"
Which is why I tell all my clients BACK UP YOUR IMPORTANT DATA!! Don't rely on your PC to not break down.
As for Windows 8, I hate it...with a passion. The only person I know who doesn't hate is a guy who got his first ever PC recently so he had no experience with real Windows. Another older client bought a new PC recently and despite my advice to just put Windows 7 on from the start he decided to 'try' out Windows 8, after a week he is now asking me to put Windows 7 on for him. SO if you can get the store to install Windows 7 on a machine I'd highly recommend that.
Alternatively, next time you're down the street drop into a computer store and tell them you want to have a look at a Windows 8 machine but DON'T let them walk you through it. See if you can figure it out for yourself.
Office 365 is OK but tries to push you into the cloud, and once your data is in the cloud it is no longer your data, do some reading up on the cloud. Of course that's an option so you don't have to go onto the cloud if you don't want to....yet.
