All good points Lap.
One consolation is that whatever you think of Americans, they have that can-do mentality. Yes they have stuffed up right royally, however unlike our Asian cousins ( no offense intended ) they will do what has to be done rather than ignore the problem and hope it goes away. A la Japan etc. for the last God knows how long.
Most innovation still comes from the US and they are not constrained by an aging population. Like it or not, the immediate future may be in their hands.
