    garyboat rule 1 is an important one, diffrent people will prefer diffrent styles.

    thou some people will state that they don't like this or that type of wine but I think that it's just that they have not tasted a good one, there are so many diffrent wines and they can vary from vintage to vintage that it's only when you have tried many that you get to understand what you do like and how to pick simular ones.

    Right on with diffrent regions, south australia is the biggest producer and with so much competion there are some excellent wines from small wineries that hardly get a mention while the mass producers with well known brands make rather ordinary wines.

    marketing plays a part, for example the Coonawara region gets a lot of attention for great wines, the best of the are in the terra rossa area but not all wineries in the coonawarra have terra rossa.

    AS for visiting wineries during harvest, not sure they would have time for visitors at that time. Maybe just before the harvest
