Hightrax ,that post was awesome .I have done the same research as you and you were spot on .Its a shame others make comments based on a few newspaper reports on a plant such as murrin murrin ,which was built about ten years ago,and perpetuate the myth that this is still highly risky . I urge others to do some in depth research to get a balanced ,and more importantly up to date picture of laterite processing .MLX have the benefit of all the previous mistakes made by Anaconda ,and other plants operating around the world . In actual fact Minara have got the plant running quite good now . Now MLX have the Ravensthorpe experience to further improve knowledge base .
Whatnogravy ,your post imlies that BHPs Ravensworth plant is problematic .It is only being commissioned now ,so lets hold back the criticism for a bit .The only problem BHP have had is cost overruns so far ,not operational ones .Much of this has come about from an unprecedented demand and price escalation for materials and personnel in the last couple of years and is Something that nobody could forsee when doing cost estimates .Its very harsh to totally blame BHP for something that has happened to every single miner developing a project over the past few years ,and cant be singled out .
