Thanks for the thoughts.

My attempt today to install on Vista failed, and am considering every option.

Do I replace my software with something that can still run my handwritten idicators.

Do I send my machine back to the manufactures (Dell) who would send it back to Malaysia maybe, (they normally say throw the machine in the bin).

Size isn't the problem and the local tech thinks the motherboard is stuffed again I think I have already had 2 relaced in that machine. There seems to be a squealing sound before it runs at snails pace so not sure what that means except the HD is newish and I cleaned the fans. When the fans come on ther still sems to be little heat flowing and the locla tech says it is probably the mother board warping and pressing on a fan.

Anyway I will keep you in mind and further consultations are probably inevitable.
