Gday Volt, i had a similiar scenario just recently. I actually replaced my power supply, just a cheapy did the job, its an easy task to do. Machine runs quiet and fast again.
Might want to chack your power supply if that is the problem. My fan used to make noises, then after 5 mins grab traction and sorta was better, but i knew it was still screwy, my graphics used to get sticky and if i plugged in an ipod to charge it would freeze or reset my machine.
If symptoms sounds the same, might want to look down that road. Just a thought.
