Well, when I had success with my investments etc, and was able to retire at age 40.. people didn't know the $$ I had it was quite a few million, I lived in the same house, still bought secondhand cars, and flew virgin and jetstar. all they knew that I could volunteer my time (which I did for 8 years) helped a lot of people out, sent some on holidays, took some on holidays with us etc...and conversely when I lost the lot ( and more ) in 2009.. no-one knew either.. other than, I was looking to get into paid work again... and of course no holidays, no helping others etc... Personally I wouldn't tell...
