    The Skinny Dip

This is what some Aussies do to celebrate the shortest day of the year. Reliable information is that the rope is to avoid the possibility that someone will have to dive in and rescue him, when he passes out. He isn't going to pass out from the extreme cold, but that he placed shorts on the XJO Tuesday, and couldn't access his broker all of Wednesday.

    Here comes the Sun

In Stonehenge, England, there is a different sort of celebration as they have their Summer Solstice on the 21st. June. These happy investors I am reliably informed, sold out of their stocks in the FTSE 250 last week and invested the lot into the Aussie Banks. Oh! happy day!

On a factual note, on the 21st. June the official length of the day, between sunrise and sunset is:
Melbourne  9 hours 32 min. Sydney 9 hours 53 min.   Ushuaia (Tierra Del Fuego, Argentina)  7 hours 11 min.
From the 22nd. onwards the days will start to increase in length until the December Solstice.
