By all accounts Winu is an extremely large low grade bulk tonnage copper deposit - a long life, RIO-scale mine - in one of the lowest risk global jurisdictions around at present. And it is copper, which is RIO's metal of choice for the future: the essential metal of the electric car.
The precise financial details will be released by RIO in due course, but their recent environmental application tells you they have done the numbers, it all adds up to profit, and they going to mine it.
