The higher voltage line that come up the coast from the power station, are not the ones that go to your house.
You know, the ones on the big high towers that people complain about going over their property.
They are reduced several times before they get to your home.
On my power pole,being on a main street I have thicker higher voltage lines above the ones to my house.
years ago they fell down on to local lines and blew all my electrical appliance, TV,computers and etc.That's how I know.
The same deal with your water and gas pipes, all larger to cope with demand.
All are reduced size to your area and again to your house.
The muti lane h/ways are not built to your garage.they also are reduced in size as you get closer to your home.
It's just common sense.
Run the fibre to the exchanges,but no need to your home.
