What you are referring to with Paterson is advice based brokering. State that you do not want advice but you wish to simply participate in IPO's. I probably participate in about 30 or so a year so if you are only interested in a few then maybe just one broker is enough.

While I do accept that $100 for a transaction is high, you need to consider that even if you are given spread only in a stock and it goes up 50% which many good ones do, you will still make like a 40% return.

1) During last 16 month I took place in 22 IPO

2)What about $300 annual account fee. Are you paying the same?
If yes, do you believe that it's fair to charge $300 for nothing?

3) I agree, that if IPO going up, you making a money, what about case, when IPO going down?
Will broker pay you back your 1% ? And another 1% on a top to cover your loss at least partly? ))))

All above are dip under water
Some of them for more than 50% (for example NUS and UUV)
Is it still sound reasonable to pay $300 per year plus 1%????
