I think the threat of a carbon tax in this term of government when it was promised that would not happen has made people look more closely into the whole global warming / climate change thing.
I sometimes wonder if Ms Gillard had been honest enough to not introduce it in this term of government and took it to the people to vote, carbon tax may have come across as something credible.
But when she lied, admitted she lied without correcting that lie by allowing the electorate to at least vote on it, I think she not only lost credibility for herself, but also the credibility any future of carbon tax in this country.
People do tend to sit up and take more interest when something is threatening their hip pocket. And I think the fence sitters have sat up and taken more interest by listening to both sides and realise that there is little Australia can achieve with the craziness of this tax.
