Northern Territory cobalt, copper and nickel mining group Compass Resources has been placed into voluntary administration, following the withdrawal of assistance by Chinese group Hunan Nonferrous Metals. The latter has been suffering loses due to the weakening global economy and lower commodities demand, and will no longer help fund Compass's $A205m Browns Oxide development that was plagued by cost over-runs
