I think RMS are realising that they right now they are perceived to be in a "precarious" situation
there are a fair number of posters along the lines that WD is running "dry" and MM was an overpriced enterprise and therefore RMS needs to buy higher grade resource one way or the other (check DRM SP action right now!)
So they may have decided to stop "ruffling" feathers!!
