I'm not disagreeing but if the baby i out and breathing then what use is there to leave the cord attached? Its been there for 9 months, whats a few extra minutes going to do?
They don't artificially break the waters unless necessary. My g/f had it done with our first daughter as she was already 10 days over which has other complications (larger baby, meconium that requires antibiotics for the baby).
Epidural is offered at the start but once you get going you can't just have it.
