I am not opposed to those with a military background being appointed. Its all about the individual and what they have to offer.
The role keeps evolving with time, and it is only natural the type of person changes as well. To be honest I find it hard to justify the role at all in todays Australia. It really wouldnt be missed, and our form of governance, constitution and identity are in need of a good overhaul. (will never happen thought)
As for Sir/Dame. We have our own honours. That is sufficient. Happy for them to be a thing of the past and part of history.
