All leftwing ALP / Green councillors are only trying to get street cred, so they can be selected by the party machine for higher (and more lucrative) office. Bingo BCCanuck. The councils provide a perfect setting for those who aspire to higher office. The individual makes several statements in the hope of falling under the notice of the party machine boffins. It can be tedious dealing with Mrs Brown's complaints about her neighbour's snarling dog or the loud music coming from the Patterson's house. Mundane issues tend to weigh heavily on the 'talented' idiots who gravitate to local council jobs.
