many years ago,before i learnt not to invest in my individual name,i ended up as a substantial shareholder in a dividend paying company. the chick of the moment discovered this in a ransack of my house [you think the alcohol tobacco and firearms crew went through the branch davidians in texas,you should have seen her on a mission]
that evening,at her place,her trap was sprung. she had a list of what could be bought with the sale proceeds of the shareholding.[no realisation of crystalising the tax liability].
my line was that i was making the dividend stream available to her to spend,so was hiding nothing,but that was dismissed as insane.
'whats so good about letting it pile up?.' was the line,'you have to get rid of it'.
ultimatum---obey the whim,or walk out and never be spoken to again.
my regret is that she never gave me the chance to put on my favorite pair of boots,and i had to do a runner in my socks,as the carving knife appeared and the yelling got louder.
