As a female teacher on equal pay, I was able to observe that male teachers were overrepresented in the senior positions which meant they earned more. When lunches and morning teas were programmed it was always the women who baked at home for these events and stayed back to clean up, wash dishes and clear the fridge. Many similar examples of this subdivision of labour via sex stereotyping of tasks could be provided by me, but you get my point.

Men can more easily shift a table and women can bake better cakes. And such are my generalisations...

    So what?

My ability to teach was at least on par with those of my male colleagues and thus deserved my pay cheque to be equivalent to theirs.
