I'm dreadfully sorry to have to tell you but Aussie women are not always 'polite' -

my first introduction to that one was when I was probably 17 - at a dance - where I had never met any of the girls before and went over to a small group of girls and asked one - 'yes, very politely if she would like to dance' - her answer was 'f off'

that was common practice for many guys - Aussie women are 'not' polite all the time - not within a bulls roar of it - sorry if this is news

there's a whole world of sexual attraction, deception and bad behaviour out there - and, I'm to be the bearer of bad news for you - it's not only men

I like women, - but, they sure are no angels ------- women were one of the biggest offenders in the workplace - they got away with it because blokes don't mind kidding around a bit and don't offend easily - I can tell you that there's no way most blokes would do 10% of the things to women in the workplace that I've seen women do to men

not because they aren't nice - but, because they can.

same same in the attraction stakes - for whatever reason it is - women - IMO - totally irresponsibly go out with 'I'm ready makeup' on - without any thought for how it has an affect on the blokes -

then bitch when guys are attracted to it - but, also bitch if blokes ignore them

whatever it is - it isn't polite and it certainly is irresponsible

Why does it bother you that Aussie women are not always polite?

The idea that women, men or any of the other combinations of the alphabet soup group should be polite and respectful when a stranger/person outside of their known friend group attempts to break the ice, engage them in conversation or ask for a dance isn’t that big of an ask but to expect it?
My clumsy attempts as a teenager (including the rest of my single life) in trying to strike up a friendship with unknown girls had similar outcomes to what you described.
Disheartening for a young fella, I agree but only one side of the story.
I couldn’t know if the crude rejection was because they were nasty, sick of being hit on, already had a boyfriend, hated men, just wanted a night out with friends, the possibilities are endless.

I did find that a sincere apology for interrupting their night offered me a tiny fraction of dignity as I moved away, after all we are describing an unsolicited attempt to get to know them, rejection rates are always high and polite rejections are the rarity not the general rule.
