Yep - can't disagree with what you have said. Life was very tough for most back then. Only the very rich (or well connected through monarchies did well).

I'm very happy to be living in the 21st century with all the modern conveniences. The biggest thing most of us get to bitch about (from the luxury of airconditioned study's with houses with running water, toilets, electricity, computers, tvs etc etc) is modern politics (Turnbull if you are me or Trump if its you). Quite frankly neither one is going to make a great deal of difference to either of our lives (except possibly higher taxes to pay for whatever spending commitment they have dreamt up - for example something was running on the channel 9 news tonight about a higher medicare levy).
