As a good rule of thumb, any degree with 'Studies' in its title is a waste of time. It is no more than childminding for those who couldn't get into a real course.
We have lots of Womens Study graduates, Media Study Graduates etc. They are useless. Meanwhile we have to import diesel fitters, welders, chefs and even hairdressers.
Pre Whitlam less than 5% went to university. If you could pass the exams you could get a cadetship or a teachers scholarship. Don't believe the class warfare line. Entry was available on merit.
Now a large proportion of children go onto university. The average IQ hasn't changed. Uni degrees have been dumbed down so that those on the 50th rather than the 90th percentile can pass.
The good thing is tradesmen are now paid more than graduates.
