Pilko - they aren't going to send their troops to Somalia that is for sure!!! They are going to Afghanastan in case you missed the build up there in the news of late.

I daresay the US public wouldn't want to go back to Somalia after the last Fiasco. It may be possible if Puntland declared its independence. I think that becomes more possible considering how the TFG is disintegrated and is hanging on only because of the African 'Peacekeeping' force. How long they stay is another issue.

In the latest news - there was a helicopter attack from unknown sources against a group of militants in a house in Somali, most likely the US, but they wouldn't discuss it. Maybe they are intervening as part of their war on terror. Still can't see them putting boots on the ground though! And they will probably do as much as they can to prevent China getting a hold in the area!
