even if Anwar wins, he is not going to shut down Lynas. the whole antiLynas thing was started by some church leaders in Kuantan. and when it caught momentum, the opposition took advantage of this to score some browny points with the electorat. The opposition never had any antiLynas sentiments to begin with.
It is not easy to shut Lynas down. And Anwar just wants to be seen to have done something - like a review of the safety, etc. He was really smart to choose the word halt...and this whole notion of halt or pause to kill Lynas of cash so as to not have to pay for compensation sounds very mickey mouse to me - not going to happen - if anything, Lynas will continue to operate while a review is being conducted - this sounds more like the modern and rapidly developing, and international-reputation-conscious Malaysia I know of today.
Bottom line though. Anwar will not win.
