Maybe they were about to release him. the fact his caputers were unarmed something Hilaly stated on the weekend and now comfirmed by Woods wouls suggest this may have been the case.

Maybe they were not going to release him but would have cut his head of weeks ago if not for Hilaly's intervention.

Maybe Hilaly's efforts achevied nothing at all.
