Red gum is one of the easiest hardwoods to split and burns well. I try to get iron bark for the colder weather and overnight burns but also use a bit of dry spotted gum or blood wood for quick heat and they are easy to source. Do you buy the wood on pallets or are you just drying it out? On another subject has anybody got a log splitter as I'm seriously looking at buying one for next season, getting a bit lazy having split wood with a blockbuster for as long as I can remember.
