As long as the grain is reasonably straight, like jarrah it will split without any problem and that's my 3 tonne version. I've got some stuff with the grain all over the place that I can't split with a hand block splitter and have to slot it with a chainsaw and then split it with the Ryobi.
I would take some of those 20 - 30 tonne figures with a pinch of salt.
Another factor is the risk of being hit by flying timber. It goes forwards or at right angles when it flies and if 3 tonnes can launch it at scary velocities when it cracks on occasion imagine what 30 tonnes can do?
They weigh 50kg so are solid. I know because I lifted mine out of the car and put it down on the ground doing my back in at the same time.
