Woodside in talks to buy $20b BHP oil, gas assets

Woodside Petroleum is in advanced talks to acquire BHP Group’s entire petroleum division in a $20 billion-odd deal that will define the futures of both companies.It is understood Woodside’s proposal would see it offer Woodside shares to BHP for the petroleum business, and those shares would be handed straight to BHP’s shareholders to ensure there was no change of control as part of the transaction.
