Potentially both.. we need to remember what is popular will draw money and lead to SP increases. If BHP announced they would buy a Li asset the price would be in the $60s now. Nature of the beast.
Personally, after being involved with shale oilers and beach/santos/oil search locally... sometimes the oil recovery game is a zero sum event. Bit different for the likes of BHP but I don't really mind this demerger.
