CDS movement is the market's perception of the risk in the company defaulting on its debt. Bull or bear market, it bears little bearing on a company like BHP with its huge positive cash generation power and very healthy balance sheet. The CDS movement is clearly indicating market's expectation that BHP is about to buy something REALLY big.
