I think the long term hydrogen play is not using electrolysis which is far too inefficient/expensive but through either
1. Natural gas with SMR + CCS
2. Natural gas with pyrolysis
both of these will be squarely playing to woodsides strengths of gas exploration, production and 'cryogenic' gas processing.
remember the issue is not fossil fuels but the emissions from burning fossil fuels. if we can address the emissions and make the fossil fuel net zero then there is no problem but we get all the immense benefits of fossil fuels being abundant, reliable and inexpensive (unlike renewables!)
The oil and gas industry have all the skills to decarbonise hydrocarbons and hence why I think once the policy is put in place (global carbon price) then the changes will happen and the oil and gas companies will be the big winners as they are the ones who will deliver net zero to the world.
