If you are selling a naked put (option or similar) as proposed in your post, then you expect the underlying stock to rise. In any case, these type of derivative plays (ie selling puts or calls), and such have long been very restricted by the market regulators, following the many problems during the GST. The much used "short" terminology by many members, is essentially a sale in the open market, and is only effective when there are insufficient buying pressures to offset same. How many $Bns of WDS holders' wealth has been destroyed so far, when the broader market is gangbusters upwards, at or near historical levels. Assuming WDS will pay dividends going forward, many holders will have to wait until the 2050 target as recently notified by the WDS Chairman to recover all that lost capital.
