You may have overlooked a crucial factor called time capital. The people you're talking about may have sold WDS and then bought NVIDIA. While you're riding the ups and downs and are content with a small dividend, even if you're losing money, others are riding rockets.
You could still say, "If you don't like it, you're free to walk away. We're happy with the dividends, even now the stock price drops back to 2005 levels."
