Labor's energy policies aim to transition Australia towards renewable energy sources and reduce reliance on fossil fuels. However, the claim of a "maniacal close down" might be an exaggeration. For instance, the government has set ambitious targets, such as achieving 82% renewable energy by 2030 and reducing emissions by 43%. At the same time, there are plans to phase out coal plants, like the Eraring power station, by 2025
Interestingly, Labor has also supported initiatives like mapping gas reserves for future exploitation, which suggests a more nuanced approach rather than a complete shutdown of fossil fuels. The debate around these policies is intense, with critics arguing about their feasibility and impact on energy prices and reliability.
I do not see any reason why the NWS extension is not now approved. Though It is better for Australia that the ALP wins the inner Perth seat rather than the GREENS.
