I am sorry for your pain. I suffered pain too, so at least we have that in common.................While they might not be "realized" until the assets are actually sold, they can certainly feel very real when looking at account balances or financial statements. It's understandable to feel frustrated by the concept.
But the distinction between "paper" and "real" losses can also highlight an opportunity: the potential for those investments to recover in value over time, depending on market conditions. Of course, this all depends on individual circumstances and financial strategies.
