As another has already mentioned in the thread, the franking credits are given back to you in cash if you are in the pension phase/draw down phase of your australian super. Eg typically over 60 years of age and have elected to retire.
or if you are in accumulation phase ie not retired and typucally under 60, you will recieve from the ato half of the franking credits in a cash refund to the super account.
to illustrate:
100 dollars dividend, 30 dollars franking credits.
shares not held in super and in an individuals hands, you'll get 100 in hand and the franking credits are applied to your tax return, to avoid double taxation.
if shares are held in super accumulation phase, you get 100 div, and the ato will credit your super with 15 dollars cash refund. As you pay 15% tax in the super fund in accumulation phase
if shares are held in super and u are in draw down phase, you get 100 div, plus 30 dollars refund from the ato in cash

the above is really rough but just trying to illustrate the basic concepts. There are a lot of other factors. Obviously not advice either
