I saw that overnight, they weren't the only ones. I did not pay much attention; however, one of the retailers also cut it. It may have been Target or Starbucks...one in the sector anyway.
The U.S. is obsessed with buybacks, and over here we are obsessed with dividends; hence, you have multi decade companies like Chevron with 1.75 billion shares on issue after numerous major acquisitions, or Warren B. Occidental with less than one billion on the register.
At least they did mention possible buybacks yesterday, but not until 2029+. I do not have to wait that long, only a 1000 days or so.
