The energy transition is happening regardless of whichever party is is in power because private money has been funding these projects for some time. Go look at the NEM if you don't believe me. This continued after agencies like ARENA got their funding cut so the subsidy line of discussion doesn't hold weight if you look into it. I don't see why you might see renewables at as threat to WDS - I see it as an opportunity to sell more gas domestically because gas is core part of renewables (particularly the transition which is a long term) Anyone can see that gas is a better (and cleaner) alternative compared to keeping end of life coal fire stations operating past their asset life. The gas generation helps with peak and base load that's the ALP's view is a better option whilst building more generation and storage capacity which is a difficult task.
The LNP had a decade in office to put these projects into place but never did, and meanwhile progress has been made in spite of them. To equate support of renewable energy as vandalism to the economy isn't based in the facts. I suspect you feel renewables represent some type of value system or politics which I don't is is productive. All things should be looked at based on merit and it was clear that perhaps if the build of nuclear energy started back when the LNP was in government that the economics (at the time) may have stacked up but now they just don't (in our country as of right now, but that could change again in the future).
