The scandal of the gas situation in Australia is that the massive gas reserves of the NW Shelf have always been sold off to Asia, particularly Japan, for more than 50 years (actually a lot more).
Australia could have been a gas driven economy, but successive Australian governments have kow-towed to the world wide petroleum corporations and kept Australia slaves to the petrol economy.
Mandating a percentage of the NW gas reserves for the use of the Australian economy would have prevented the gas shortage in the first place.
Thank you to all the spineless, greedy Australian politicians over the years who sabotaged what could have been an Australian gas bonanza for its own people.
